As part of the Big 12 Conference鈥檚 ongoing Homecoming series, TCU welcomed an exciting celebration of school spirit and community engagement at The Leadership Academy at Como Elementary School 鈥 part of the Leadership Academy Network, a partnership with Fort Worth ISD. The event brought together students, teachers, Horned Frogs and Big 12 partners for a memorable day with surprises and fun.
鈥淲e are very proud to host Big 12 Homecoming and especially with the impact it will have on Fort Worth,鈥 said Jeremiah Donati, TCU director of intercollegiate athletics. 鈥淐omo Elementary is an important part of our community and the Fort Worth ISD, educating and serving our local youth for 70 years. We are excited to support Como Elementary and have a strong TCU presence on its campus.鈥
SuperFrog and members of the TCU Spirit Team made surprise visits to classrooms, sharing the exciting news that Como Elementary will receive a donation of $1,000 for each of its 25 classrooms, plus an additional $1,000 for the school鈥檚 principal, Shawn Buchanan.
鈥淲e are so appreciative of TCU and the Big 12 Conference for surprising our teachers with $25,000 to purchase supplies for their students,鈥 Buchanan said. 鈥淥ur teachers are on the front lines and so deserving of being recognized!鈥
This visit to Como Elementary was part of the larger Big 12 Homecoming celebration at TCU to highlight the university鈥檚 connection to the Fort Worth community and the broader Big 12 brand.
