Through basic courses in physics, mathematics, geology and chemistry, you’ll gain a foundation for understanding classical and modern physics, or study topics like star cluster and galaxy evolution, infrared and radio astronomy. Our Faculty


Our faculty deciphers how the galaxies evolve by observing stars and gas in the Milky Way and in neighboring galaxies. We use world-class telescopes and study at observatories locally and around the globe. Our astronomers are also part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey consortium, one of the most significant astronomy projects of all time.

What Sets Us Apart


In our observational astronomy and computational physics program, you’ll have the tools you need to explore the skies—you can even observe firsthand at observatories such as the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, Texas.
